Community-Based Research: A Journey to the rich history of Barangay Ayusan

     Our Community-Based Research is focused on the History and the origin of a place. Barangay Ayusan Norte comes from a deep history. A place where time meets culture, and the culture enriches the place, while the people maintain and cherish it every single day.

  

    During the 2nd quarter, one of our requirements is to make simple Community-based research in our own municipalities. Our search aims to inform, enrich, and examine the unique origin and history of Barangay Ayusan, located at the western part of Vigan City, it has historically played an important role in controlling and mitigating floodwaters coming out of Vigan, with its rivers guiding the waters out into the west Philippine Sea. It was for this reason it was aptly named “AYUSAN”.

       To learn about the history of Ayusan Norte in Vigan City, we gathered information through various means. We began by visiting the barangay hall to acquire the necessary information for our research. Specifically, we sought permission to access insights on the population and to explore its historical records. We also talked to other people who have lived in Ayusan Norte to know about how the community has changed over the years. These personal accounts provided a unique and valuable perspective on the history of Ayusan Norte, showcasing its remarkable evolution. 

    This study aims to prevent that, by commemorating what life was like in the past, by remembering what it once was, we hope to awaken and teach the memory of it to those who will come next. With this research, we hope to enlighten the future generation and put emphasis on the importance of remembering our community’s historical origins.
